MDView: A Markdown Viewer
Open Markdown on your Mac and focus on reading.
MDView is a native Mac document application that presents local Markdown files in a clear reading view. It runs on macOS 14 or later and supports Intel and Apple silicon.
Start with a file
Open .md, .markdown, .mdown, or .mkd files, drag documents onto the application or its Dock icon, or continue from Open Recent. Each document can have its own window.
Familiar Markdown
Read CommonMark documents and GitHub-style tables, task lists, strikethrough, and autolinks. The interface follows the system’s light or dark appearance.
Change a few lines when needed
Press Command-E for plain-text editing, make light changes, and save or save to a new file. Undo is supported, with protection when another application changes the file.
Local documents, clear boundaries
No account is required. Documents are processed on your Mac and are not uploaded to a developer server. Local images referenced by relative paths are supported with access permission; remote images and scripts are blocked, and external links open in your browser after confirmation.
