MDView: A Markdown Viewer — Privacy Policy
Updated: October 12, 2026
This policy explains how the MDView application handles information. Contact the developer at norvynzhang@gmail.com.
Documents and local access
MDView reads documents you select on your Mac and writes files when you save changes. The application does not upload document contents to a developer server. Reading local images referenced by relative paths may require permission to access the relevant file or folder.
The application uses macOS recent-document records and file-access bookmarks to reopen documents. These records and permissions are handled locally by the application and the system.
Reading view and networking
The reading view uses a nonpersistent WebKit data store. Remote images and JavaScript are blocked, and embedded HTML is omitted. External links you confirm are handed to your browser, which handles subsequent network requests with the destination website; that website’s privacy policy applies to those visits.
The application includes a network-client entitlement for WebKit, so this policy does not guarantee an absence of all network activity.
Logs and analytics
MDView has no advertising, analytics SDK, developer server backend, or telemetry uploads. The application may record local diagnostic information such as operation durations and UTF-8 byte counts; these logs are not sent to the developer through application telemetry.
Support email
If you voluntarily send a support email, the developer receives the email address, message, and attachments you provide. Share only information needed to resolve the issue. Sending and storing email is also subject to the rules of the email services involved.
Contact and updates
