MDView: A Markdown Viewer — Support
MDView is a Markdown reader for macOS 14 or later, supporting Intel and Apple silicon Macs.
Open and read
Choose .md, .markdown, .mdown, or .mkd files using File > Open, or drag files onto MDView or its Dock icon. Use Open Recent to revisit documents; read multiple documents in separate windows.
The reading view supports CommonMark and GitHub-style tables, task lists, strikethrough, and autolinks, and follows the system’s light or dark appearance.
Light editing
Press Command-E to switch to plain-text editing. Use Save or Save As to save changes, and undo edits when needed. If another application changes the file, review the prompt and preserve the content you need before saving over external changes.
Images and links
Local images referenced by relative paths require access to the relevant file or folder. PNG, JPEG, GIF, and WebP are supported. If an image is missing, check its path and access permissions. Remote images, JavaScript, and embedded HTML are not loaded or executed in the reading view; external links open in your browser after confirmation.
